The
Institute purchased 28.21 ha of land from
the Government of Assam, Department of Higher
Education belonging to the Science College,
Jorhat. The land is situated 10 kms east of
Jorhat town on National Highway number 37.
The plot is connected by 300 metre road leading
to Sotai Tea Estate. The construction work
of the Administrative
Office building
as well as of |

Field
laboratory has a floor area of
about 1,071 sq. m and 955 sq. m respectively
has been completed. The Institute started
functioning from its own campus on 1st April
2001 . Out of 211 residential accomodation
only 13 have been constructed . A plan to
construct rest fo the residential accomodation
to about 50% satisfaction has also been proposed
to the Ministry of |

Environment and Forests, Govt. of India . Besides, a Scientists
hostel , Research Scholars Hostel and Farmer's Training
Hostel, an auditorium and a Community Hall are also proposed
. |
