A brief

The Advanced Woodworking Training Center (AWTC) is located at Institute of Wood Science & Technology (IWST) which is a premier Research Institute at Bangalore, under ICFRE (Indian Council of Forestry Research & Education).

      The AWTC was started as the first Research & Training Center in India and its basic 
aim is to enhance the quality of Indian wood products manufacturing industries so as to attain global competitiveness by using the state of art machineries from Italy. This center will help the Industrialists to have an exposure of various Italian machineries. 

      It is a joint venture between Indian Government (IWST under ICFRE) , Italian Government (Italian Trade Commission, ICE) &ACIMALL ( Italian Woodworking Machines and Tools Manufacturers Association ) and is a Research & Training Center at Bangalore. 

      A regular training programme is conducted and is imparted by four experienced trainers who are Engineers, trained in India and Italy for this purpose. The Center is under the administrative control of IWST, Bangalore.

Course Details

     

The Training course is conducted in 6 weeks comprising 3 modules.

  1. Module I - Fundamentals of Woodworking (1 Week)

  2. Module II - Basic Mechanical Wood Processing (2 Weeks)

  3. Module III - Advanced Mechanical Wood Processing (3 Weeks)

The classes will be from 9 A.M To 5 30 P.M everyday except Sunday & alternative Saturdays.

 

Course Fee

 

       The Course is being conducted free of cost. The course materials for 3 modules are also supplied free of cost. Lunch & Tea for the trainees is provided during the training.

 

Accommodation

 

      The out station candidates can avail hostel accommodation at the Guest house in the IWST campus where the Center is situated. However the trainees have to pay a nominal amount of Rs. 500/- per month. Breakfast & dinner charges have to be borne by the trainees.

 

Selection Procedure

 

       The candidates should possess a minimum of S.S.L.C qualification to join  Module I, however,  those who have experience in Wood working /related field Can directly join Module II. The candidates should send their Bio-data thro’ post / email or directly in person to the address mentioned below at least 15 days before commencing of the Batch. After Scrutiny, the interview call letter / Email/ Phone, will be sent to the candidate for the selection. At the time of interview the candidate should submit the details as follows:

 

       1. Certificate to prove their qualification, Age etc…

       2. Passport size photographs.

 

The final selection details will be intimated to the candidate for joining the course.

 

Training:

 

      The training includes theory and practical for all the 3 modules. The theory classes are conducted in a fully equipped classroom including LCD projector. During theory class there will be interactions, discussions and seminars to develop the personality of the students.


      During practical, the students will undergo training for operation, safety and maintenance aspects of almost 20 Italian woodworking machineries. 


       The project work is also included in the 3rd module to equip them to make end use products by using solid wood material and panel materials. At the end of the course there will be an INDUSTRIAL VISIT to any one of the leading industries in Bangalore to know the activities of the Industry and to have an exposure with various machineries used in wood Industry.

 

Job Opportunities

   

      There is a shortage of trained manpower in modern woodworking sector, the trainees those who have successfully completed all the 3 modules will find placement in various woodworking companies in India.
Campus interview is also being arranged by the Center to provide the employment.

 

The Certificate

 

       The Certificate will be issued to the trainees after conducting Viva at the end of each module. The Certificate issued jointly by the Indian Government & Italian Government.
